20-year-old Italian-Filipino model and Miss Earth Philippines representative Sylvia Celeste Cortesi spoke about how she is ‘confident’ to be crowned as this year’s Miss Earth.
“I’m really confident to win the crown. I know that last year the Philippines won the crown. I really have to maintain the same level of Karen Ibasco. I will do my best to win the crown,” she said.
After winning her place last May, she was recently welcomed by Filipinos residing in Italy last Sunday evening. She is also known as the first Filipina from abroad to be honored with the title.
She also expressed her gratitude for her supporters and fellow Filipinos in the region of Emilia Romagna for believing in her and her capabilities to enter the pageant.
“I did not expect a lot of fans from the Philippines. I want to say thank you because they support me everyday, sent messages and sometimes meet each other. I want to say thank you to all my supporters in Italy and Philippines,” she said.
Cortesi was born in Pasay City, Philippines and raised in Parma, Italy.
The Miss Earth pageant is to be held in October. Until then, Cortesi will return to the Philippines on July 19 for her training.
